Art Around our School and the Community

Feathers McGraw

This year we were chosen to take part in the Gromit Unleashed School's Programme for The Grand Appeal. We ran a competition to create a design for our one metre tall Feathers McGraw which was won by Ollie in Year 4. It was then up to a great team of children from years 2-6 to help make this idea into a reality. However, the plan also included all members of the school who created a diverse collection of little fishes to decorate the penguin.

Displays

Our school is full of displays showcasing the fabulous art work that our children create. You will also see displays of costumes and photos from our Lion King production and the art work that was linked to the underlying messages within it.

Just a few of the art work displays we have shown in the local community.

Tree Weaving

Year 4 created some large weaving triangles which were linked together and hung in the winter trees. They looked quite dramatic.

Our Wooden Owl

The school commission a distinctive piece of artwork to welcome visitors to our school and were fortunate to find the talented sculptor, Daniel Cordell, to create a magnificent wood sculpture of our school logo, a tawny owl.  Located outside the entrance to the school it provides a lasting visual reminder to pupils, staff and visitors of our core values of love, hope, joy and forgiveness.

Mike the Owl

Look above the fish tank when you come into the main school building and you will see Mike. He is made of wire and was decorated with feathers made by every member of our school community.

Diversity Project

Our school is made up of individuals from many diverse cultures and nationalities, who are all able to enjoy the variety of opportunities available here. Children began by designing a section showing an aspect of the school they wanted to celebrate. They then transferred these to canvas and painted them. See what different images you can find.

Fish - Created by Art Club, the Reception cloakroom is decorated by a whole range of interesting fishes. Which is your favourite?
