Geography and History

History and Geography are taught across the school within each year group's topics. Geography and History are taught through a variety of different forms including map work, art, drama and writing.

Also, we arrange trips and activities to engage children in their learning. For example, Year 3 have a Hunter Gatherer day on the field, Year 4 visit Brunel's SS Great Britain and Year 1 visit Weston Super Mare.

In Geography there are four main areas to cover; locational knowledge, place knowledge, human and physical geography and geographical skills and fieldwork. Throughout the school, we have Geography skills ladders to show what skills are being taught in each year group.

Our Geography Skills Ladders

Our history skills ladders are currently broken down into KS1 (Year 1/ 2), Lower KS2 (Year 3/4) and Upper KS2 (Year 5/6). Each year group focuses on a particular set of skills in order to ensure full coverage of history teaching across the school.
