PE and Sport

We place a very high emphasis on fitness and sporting activity, and want all children to enjoy sport during their time at St Michael's. Our aims are:

Our sports curriculum

Additional opportunities

We offer a wide variety of additional opportunities for sport and physical activity, and we hope that every child from Y1 upwards will take part in something extra. There is a wide variety of clubs available, mainly after school, run by teachers (free) and external coaches (cost). Funding is available to support children who might not otherwise be able to afford to participate.

Clubs include:

Gymnastics (currently 4 clubs over three evenings): our most popular sport.

Football (a club for every year group on different nights)

Girls' Football

Table Tennis

Tag Rugby

Sports Day 2018

We hold an annual sports day, usually at the beginning of July. All children take part in a number of competitive races and other activities. Some of these have a distinct 'fun' element (eg obstacles races), whilst we also have some highly competitive sprint and relay races. The KS2 event ends with a tug of war, and the winning house in each Key Stage receives the Sports Day trophy.

In 2018 the winners were:

We take part in a large number of competitions and tournaments during the course of the year. Last year these included:

  • Several Tag Rugby tournaments
  • An NFL (American Football) tournament (3rd place)
  • Athletics
  • Basketball
  • The Bradley Stoke Football Festival (see below)
