Social Networking Sites

Social Networking sites such as Facebook are great ways of sharing positive comments, ideas and thoughts with other parents. We ask that parents observe the following protocols when using social networking sites:

Photos

Not to share photos of other children on personal or shared sites without the child's parents explicit permission. This particularly relates to photos taken at school events, as there are a number of children for legal or safeguarding reasons must not appear on public sites.

Negative comments about the school

Whilst we all may have little niggles or concerns at times, we request that parents do not make negative comments about the school on shared sites. Invariably these will get back to the school at some point (many parents also work at the school), and can be very hurtful or upsetting if directed towards specific members of staff. We have clear procedures for dealing with queries or concerns (click here to access these).

Staff membership of sites; communication with staff

Staff members should not be members of joint sites, and all communication with staff should be through official channels (school email; class dojo etc, not through personal emails/phones)

Inappropriate use of social networking sites from parents or staff may result in action being taken by the Headteacher/governors to remove content or close a site.
